It would truly be my honor to be part of your journey towards healing, accomplishing change and any other goals that you may have for therapy. It can be challenging navigating life’s ups and downs on your own, so as a therapist I aim to provide a safe space where you can feel comfortable discussing issues that you may not have found support for in your life to talk about until now.
I believe in a warm, compassionate, person-centered approach to therapy where we can collaborate through our conversations towards a life that you envisioned for yourself, no matter where it is you’re starting from now. I’ve had experience working with people of all ages from adolescence to older adults, along with what challenges arise in each of these stages of life. I’ve worked extensively with people who are experiencing substance use issues and want to make lasting changes towards their sobriety. I have also helped individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression and some personality disorders. In addition, I have enjoyed working with couples and families and believe that there is a lot of healing that can be done in relational work together.
As a therapist, I integrate theories and interventions from many modalities in an effort to tailor my approach for a treatment that would be most suitable for your unique outlook and experiences in life. Among these are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Contextual Family Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. In my work with couples, I have used the Gottman Method along with Emotionally Focused Therapy. More importantly, I value a culturally-informed perspective in all my work as a therapist as a second generation immigrant myself, I am attuned to the difficulties that come with acculturation and being a minority in not just culture but in gender and sexual orientation as well.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA before I moved to San Diego in 2018. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cal State University East Bay and completed my Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Alliant International University. I’ve spent time living in the Philippines, where my family is from, over the years so I am fluent in Tagalog and would be happy to provide services in this language as well.
I hope to be able to support you and offer any guidance I can towards your goals for therapy and as you navigate life.
