Specialities: Trauma Therapy, ACT, CBT, DBT, and gender-affirmative care

My name is Mahshid Moattar, and I am a psychologist in San Diego with Pacific Integrative Therapy. I believe that therapy is a safe space where healing, growth, and transformation become possible. My goal is to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care that empowers you to live authentically and with resilience.

As a San Diego psychologist, I specialize in helping individuals work through challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, ADHD, interpersonal struggles, and acculturation stress. I also have extensive experience addressing the impact of systemic and social injustice on mental health. Every person’s story is unique, and I strive to honor your culture, identity, and life experiences throughout our work together.

In my approach, labels and diagnoses take a backseat to your lived experiences. I listen deeply, and together we explore patterns, challenges, and strengths so you can make meaningful changes in your life. I draw from evidence-based treatments including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques. I also integrate a psychodynamic perspective, helping you connect past experiences with the present to support long-term healing.

I am trained in gender-affirmative care and provide culturally sensitive support for LGBTQ+ clients. My work is trauma-informed and inclusive, offering clients a compassionate environment where their voices and values matter.

My journey began at the University of Washington, Seattle, where I earned a B.S. in Psychology and studied Gender, Women, and Sexuality. I volunteered as a crisis counselor, supporting individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, self-harm, and acute crises. Later, I completed my doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University, receiving advanced training in trauma-focused and culturally humble approaches.

It is my privilege as a psychologist in San Diego to walk alongside clients as they discover clarity, resilience, and purpose. I am committed to holding a safe, affirming, and growth-oriented space where you can explore your challenges, heal from trauma, and move forward with confidence.
